Why Your Dog Should Wear Dog Jewelry

Why not! You wear jewelry so why shouldn't your pooch wear a fancy jeweled collar? Dog jewelry can be a charm that both you and your pet can wear. You can put a charm on her collar and a matching charm on your bracelet.

Imagine for a moment that you are all dressed up for a night on the town. This evening is special because you are not only invited to bring your dog but the invitation requires that they must accompany you.
You are looking good and you want your dog to be just as well dressed. What should your pet wear? It depends upon the type of event you are going to. Your dog will look absolutely stunning at any event in her pearl necklace. Jewelry will add an indisputable appeal to her appearance.
For a less formal look you can have matching paw print charms, heart charms, bones and even the flag! Get one for you and one for them!
Besides necklaces, dog jewelry also comes in the form of fancy rhinestone collars, hairclips, bows, pendants and charms. You can even get a personalized collar with their name on it!
Your pet will know that something is different the moment you put the jewelry on them. If they have been trained to wear the jewelry they will absolutely love to show off for you. However, they need to be slowly introduced into wearing such jewelry.
Here are some tips to getting your dog accustomed to wearing jewelry.
  1. Start slow by putting it on your pet and watching for their reaction. If they act nervous then calm them down by soft words and a pat.
  2. Wait a few moments and then try again, but offer a treat this time.
  3. Keep doing this and in a few days your dog will almost beg you to put the jewelry on her!
The downside of getting your dog to wear any kind of dog jewelry is that every time you get dressed up to go out, your dog will want to get dressed up too...
There is a DANGER in putting jewelry on your pet and that is DO NOT let your pet be alone with the jewelry on. If your dog is anything like mine, they will try to eat it.
Please remember that it is your responsibility and not your dogs to keep track of the jewelry.
You can get inexpensive jewelry for your dog, or very expensive jewelry. Your dog doesn't really care; they just want to look good and to make you happy. A happy dog makes for a happy owner.

Are Dog Clothes For Protection or Just For Fun?

My dog likes to go for a walk every day. He knows when it is time for his walk and goes to the door. We don't always have pleasant weather here and sometimes it's really cold. Dog clothes can protect my dog from the inclement weather while we are out.
My dog is a Chihuahua variety. He is tiny and gets cold very easily. He needs a coat in the winter and a sweater or vest for spring and autumn weather. Sweaters keep him warm when I take him out for his walk. They can be put on and taken off quite easily. If they are made of the right material they can be washed.
Dogs are uncomfortable when they get soaked with rain. Raincoats are great for taking him out in inclement weather, because rain or shine he wants to go out. Doggie boots are so economical and practical for all occasions especially on rainy or snowy days. In the winter, there is ice and rocks on the sidewalk that can hurt his paws. Sometimes in the summer the roads are just too hot for their little paws. These boots come in handy then too.
Dog clothes are for protection but who are we kidding, they really are for fun too. I love to dress my dog up in a bright blue T-shirt with a funny saying on it. I think the dog dresses are adorable. I wish I also had a girl dog to dress up.
All of us need to remember to choose loose comfortable clothes for our dogs. When the clothes are too tight they can become pretty uncomfortable. If they are loose enough so your dog can move freely, they will be fine. Try to avoid too many ribbons and frills. It also helps if the clothes are washable.
So if you get the urge to dress up your pooch for that special night out. Go ahead! Jessie invites you to visit our website at http://www.mytopdogjewelry.com where you will find all kinds of dog apparel and dog products at MTDJ and learn how you can get a free gift.

Leather Dog Collars? Of Course!

Leather Dog Collars? Of Course!

Leather dog collars have been around for many, many years. When I was a small lad of about eight, my dad got my dog "Corkie", a toy collie mix, a leather dog collar. Even back then dogs had to wear a collar with a license attached.
Nowadays dogs need a tag with ID attached so you can be notified if your beloved pet ever gets lost.
I like leather collars because they are tough and durable. They can last a long time.
Back when Corkie got his collar the only color you could get was black. A plain black collar at that. No other color and no decorations were available.
Times have changed and now you can get all types and colors of leather colors. You can still get plain leather collars if that is what you really want, but why not live a little and show off your dog with a colorful, fashionable leather dog collar.
Standard leather collars now come in a variety of styles and more than one color.
Both the standard leather and the fashionable leather collar can come adorned with spikes, studs, rhinestones, or flowers. Plus you can also get bones, stars, and hearts or paw emblems sewn into the collar.
Leather dog collars come in all sizes that will fit the small Chihuahua breed all the way up to the English Mastiff.
You can get your collar in many different widths to match the size of your dog. A 3/8" wide collar wouldn't even begin to fit the neck of the Mastiff, and the 2" wide one would probably be bigger than the whole Chihuahua.
The only drawback to the leather collar is if your dog loves to swim. A lot of water on a leather collar will sometimes make the collar brittle and weaken it and it might even shrink a little. Keep the collar dry and it should last for many, many years.
If your dog is a 'water dog' then a good nylon or waterproof collar is what you need to get them when you take them to the beach or lake. Put on the tough leather collar when your dog is strutting around the neighborhood.
This season think leather because a leather dog collar is classic! It has been around for decades and will still be around years from now.

Our Adventure in Training With Dog Products-My Puppy and I

Your dog training starts before you ever get your dog. It starts even before you decide what dog you want. You don't pick a puppy because he looks cute.

What characteristics do you want in a dog? Is it important for your dog to sit quietly. Does shedding really bother you? If so you might want to consider a dog that doesn't shed as much. Do you want a little lap dog or a large dog that will want to get out and run with you?

These are just a few ideas about what to look up about your dog on the internet. When you have studied about all kinds of dogs and know what kind you would like. Then you are ready to look for a dog to fit your personality.

When I brought my puppy home I wanted him to feel safe. He needs to feel that this is his home. He needs to feel loved and protected. I was a little insecure around him, and I didn't want him to feel that. So I tried to feel secure in my home with my dog. Then he felt secure also.
As you begin your training you need to become the alpha male. This means that your dog will perceive you as the boss. Puppies will get rambunctious. When he does you need to make sure that he knows that you are the boss. Flip him over on his back and bite him on the folds of skin on his neck. Not Hard! You don't want to break the skin. If you don't want to put your mouth on him just use your hand in the shape of a claw. This just lets him know that you are the alpha male and you are in charge.

Positive reinforcement is the best way to train your dog. My puppy loved to chew on my socks. I was losing too many socks. So I got him a chew toy. He now loves to chew on his dog product toy and I have matching socks. Each time I teach him a new trick I give him positive reinforcement by telling him he is a good boy, patting his head and giving him a dog product treat. Don't use treats all the time. Our puppies want to make us happy, we need to show them that we are happy and that we love them. Use praise to show him this, but don't use baby talk and don't baby your puppy.

My puppy and I are growing and learning together. We are learning to respect and love each other. Dog training is an art and one that you can master with alot of love and patience.
